Annual Fishing Seminar
Floral Valley Center in Apple Valley (Howard)

While the weather outside is frigid, shake off cabin fever with a fisit to the annual Fishing Seminar, presented by the Apple Valley Fish Club. Visit Knox County Park District staff at this free event and pick up our latest maps and brochures to plot your spring summer adventures! At 10 am, the vendor area opens and seminars begin at noon. Lunch will be availiable during the event, featuring brats and fish sandwiches. Seminar presentors include Division of Wildlife staff, walleye and bass pros and ice fishing experts.

Cost: $10 per team
This will be a two person best three out of five single elimination tournament, there will be two divisions. Ages 13 to 17 and 18 to 100. Each age group will receive a trophy; the two divisions will play off for the championship trophy. This is an indoor event so weather will not be a Factor.

Ohio Junior Miss Radio Auction
10 am - 3 pm
On Saturday, January 31, WMVO Radio will be hosting the twenty second annual Ohio Junior Miss Radio Auction. In the past years this auction has raised over $212,000 for scholarships. A large group of volunteers are our soliticiting for items to be sold at the auction from more than 250 businesses and individuals. All items recieved for the auction will be listed on the special pages in the Mount Vernon News prior to Jan. 31. A dollar value will be placed on each item that will be in numeric order. WMVO radio personalities Dave Bevington and Marty Trese will be hosts for this year's radio auction. The public will be able to call the radio auction number that day and place bids on the items. Everything is being donated to the auction, and all monies will be used for college scholarships for the Ohio Junior Miss Scholarship Program. Anyone interested in donating an item should call Todd Hawkins at (740) 399-5526.

Heart of Ohio Trail Groups Soup'Er Bowl Event
Coach's Restaurant in Centerburg

This major fundraising event for the trail group occurs the night of the NFL Superbowl and features all-you-can-eat soup, snacks and desserts. A monetary donation is requested at the door. A 50/50 drawing and silent auction will occur, and sever televisions are avaliable for viewing the game. The Heart of Ohio Trail Group is also taking donations for the meal and silent auction. You can request a reciept for your tax-decutable donation.
